Fatty Thai: Cheap, Affordable Wanton Mee at Beach Road

We recently visited Fatty Thai, which is located along Beach Road. Their food is affordably priced, with their cheapest dish at $3.

Unlike most wanton noodles in Singapore, which are normally accompanied by gravy, ketchup, or chilli sauce, Fatty Thai’s was much drier, so some may find their noodles clumped together so you have to mix evenly. Even though that may sound plain and unappealing they do taste really good and their generous amount of lard, char siew, vegetables, and wanton made up for it.  Remember to add the spicy chilli flakes to get an extra “kick”. The fried wanton was really crispy and the soup wanton was a mouthful and taste good. Not sure what were the tiny teaspoon of ingredient added to the noodle, one thing I am sure is Sugar.  There was a slight sweetness when I eat the noodle.

Fatty Thai also serves braised pig trotters with rice, which comes with a generous serving of braised pig trotters and homemade chilli sauce. It would be great if the trotters could be softer; however the homemade chilli sauce made up for it.

Give Fatty Thai a try if you are within the area!
