Jin Xi Lai (Mui Siong) Minced Meat Noodle 金喜来(梅松)肉脞面

Besides for Victor’s Fried Chicken and Boon Kee Pork Porridge, the coffeeshop at Veerasamy Road also houses Mui Siong Minced Meat Noodles, a stall selling bak chor mee. Each dish is prepared using the freshest ingredients, and they are bound to satisfy your taste buds. Even though there weren’t any queues when we visited (on a weekday), we wouldn’t be surprised to find long queues on a weekend.

Their minced meat noodles were light and springy, with each strand of noodle coated with a thin layer of oil. Their sauced were also well-prepared, although you’ll need to mix the noodles and the sauce thoroughly to ensure the sauce is mixed properly.

We noticed people ordering a bowl of pork liver soup alongside their minced meat noodles when we arrived at the coffee shop. Curious to find out why, we also ordered a bowl with our noodles.

Pork liver is an acquired taste. It’s also an ingredient that’s difficult to master. If cooked improperly, it is not only smelly, but also leaves a funny taste in your mouth. The one at Jin Xi Lai was cooked perfectly. It’s thickness and portion was just right, and it was soft. While the soup was also tasty and the fishballs chewy, it was the pork liver that was the star of the dish.

A benefit of being located in a relatively heartland-ish area is that they can afford to charge its patrons lower food prices without compromising on quality. Simply value for money!

Heard that there is another stall located in the west side, we will definitely try the food from that stall if there is a chance.
